Restless Eyes - Complete

This is the first song of mine that I can actually say I finished (Well mostly anyway).

Lyrics:

So why don't you
Just take your time
To realize
what's on my mind

And once you do
you just might see
that all I want
is you with me

so if you follow my subtleties
you just might like where they lead
so settle those restless those restless eyes
'cause you found your one and I found mine

I found you
and found me
and what'll it take
to make you believe

that all I want
is to be with you
and all I need
is to be your fool

Break

so settle those restless those restless eyes
'cause you found your one and I found mine

I found you---

Hi everyone

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions!

I've remixed / mastered the track with adjustments to the drums sound and levels, and more bass.

Hopefully this should improve on the bottom end and drums issues some people mentioned.

Hope you like it, this is the version that has hit our myspace page.

Well, I'll have margarita tonight
.... we can't see stars tonight..
Hey, you know the character "star" is written like 'born from the sun'. don't you think it's kind of romantique?

Lately, I often dream the same dream. Something from the night sky like this...comes down to pick me up, and I'm taken to the space. But you know, the thing is, something feels kind of.... nostalgic.

Weight Of Wrong

OK, This is the last one I'll put up for a while. I fear I'm pissing people off :P I'm gunna concentrate on commenting on more people's work. I've just been so busy.

VERSE 1

Oh shit,
Guess I got the wrong end of the stick,
I guess you thought your magic tricks would,
Fool me more than this.

But I thought you'd know,
I'm just too old for magic shows

CHORUS

Well I guess I'm gunna go,
I hope you hold onto your pride,
'Cause it won't be long,
'Till the weight of your wrong,
Leaves it the only thing in your life.

Well I know it hurts now baby,
But you just gotta let it slide.

VERSE 2

Oh fuck,
Seems you'ce really screwed things up,
Or didn't I squint hard enough,
To keep you in my view?

And you,
Flew.

Nevermind.

CHORUS

Well I guess I'm gunna go,
I hope you hold onto your pride,
'Cause it won't be long,
'Till the weight of your wrong,
Leaves it the only thing in your life.

Well I know it hurts now baby,
But you just gotta let it slide.

Years Ago

One of the first, and so far only, songs that I've created. Its not really a song in the normal sense of "Here's a melody and a the verse and chorus" etc, but rather more mood manipulation, I suppose. I used this song to learn a lot about how to create music in FL Studio, and it helped a lot doing so.

I admit its repetitive at times and seems to drag on for a while, but if you have it on in the background and chill I think it serves its purpose of being rather meditative. It may help to share the mental imagery I had while making this song, since I feel it kind of paints a picture. Its just a memory I had of when I was younger, walking through a wooded area between sparse rain showers and listening to the water drip from the leaves of the trees and the birds communicating about finding a shelter or whatever else. Just a quiet, thoughtful walk through a park between light summer showers.

Let me know what you think! I don't know much (or anything, really) about musical composition and arrangement, so I know I have much to learn about layering and things like that. Thanks!

We went for a nice laid back feel. Kinda like the Eagles.
We weren't trying to impress just trying to stay in the pocket. The electric was recorded on a old Kramer through a Marshall jcm900 . We sang the chorus all together in one room six diffrent times then panned them in diffrent.

Go With The Flow

Firstly appologise for not being on the AMP for a while, just got composer cramp for too long, hence if I don't get any new ideas to work on I get bored, fed-up. Think I was getting too bogged down with the technical side, so now trying to get a good ballance.

Hence the title of the song, I went with the flow, the rhythm part where I'm singing is unusual, but I 'went with the flow', [pardon the pun]

Because it's so weard, I couldn't find a drum pattern to go with it, so I bashed out the drums on my Yamaha keys ,freehand, one track Cymbols the other Bass drum and snare. Also after playing guitar some 30 plus years with a pick, I tried my fingers, so the dynamics are not brillient, but I like the sound. and Yes there is a real flute playing.

It needs a little editing and Eq work.

Let me know what you think please

At daydream time

Part of this song is an idea I had long ago. I decided I'd complete the piece so that it could be recorded. It is still very short anyway. I played the song as it is like twenty times, but it looks like the more I play, the harder it is for me to do it without hitting the wrong keys, so I finally thought I'd just upload the best one so far, so that you guys could listen to it. I hope you can, for I'm getting a message telling bandamp's functions for playing and downloading are not working at the moment.
In the end. It'll still need some work, but I hope you like it so far.

The strangest chords I ever came up with, not intentionally, though. The song idea is about 4-5 yrs old but it was redone a couple of months ago into this version. One slight problem you might notice is the drums - I think I might have used the same pattern for this song and GRUGE. It's just that my wave library is very limited.
Please tell me what you think about this song.

A song about all the things we desire but are afraid to try for. A song about the people who feel like no one loves them because they choose to ignore the people who obviously do. This song is about you and me. Probably the most Dylanesque song I've ever recorded. Tell me what you think.

You know I’ve been thinking bout the way you look at me
Your eyes are a picture of deceit
I just can’t help thinking that if you held a gun
You’d shoot me dead and run back to the street

The only way to shoot me is between the eyes
Avoid my heart cause it couldn't stand the harm
See me down but let me hope you realise
For all I' ve been through could we change anywise?

Take the bullet out ........ and kiss it sweetly
Cos I’m completely…….. lost in my love for you
The world's shouts so loud…..can’t u stop the sound
Put the pistol down…….. don't bid love adieu

You know I was thinking bout the way you looked at me
Your eyes were a picture of deceit
You felt my heart beating while t'was pressed against your gun
You took the chance but have you really won?

There's a feeling that we've all had at some point in our lives, when you suddenly realise that you've REALLY screwed something up and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
A new song of mine - hope you like.

I'd love to know what you think, please.

The lyrics are as follow:

In fact, no one has time anymore,
Why should we hide it - we all need to try and catch our life
But how about less noise around us?
And fewer phone calls, fewer meetings, fewer places....?

Chorus: La la la la la I like doing nothing,
La la la la la absolutely nothing
La la la la la I like wasting my time
La la la la la completely

This song is sort of different from what I usually do.

Let me know how it goes.

All That I Can Be

Well Here it is. The first track off my piano EP. (well actually the second, this is just the first I've uploaded)

The vocals were double tracked and recorded in my friend's flat using some pretty basic gear. The piano was recorded in a 300 year old chapel on a grand piano. Which had an extremely loud pedal but it's not too noticable thankfully.

My good friend Bella put double bass in a few of the tracks which sounds beautiful.

VERSE 1

I know all the things that people say I hear them everyday.
And I know all the things you like and dislike in me.
But I’m not ready for this kind of conversation where you break down,
What I am and what i wish that I could be.

I’m this passive little angel underneath it all,
But come across as something harder to digest, I guess.
When i’m older and i’m wiser I will know my weaker side,
But for now I’m young and bold enough with nothing here to hide.

CHORUS:

And I,
Had always been the same one there.
And I,
Am not the one who’s changed round here

X2

Didn’t you notice that?

VERSE 2

I’m aware of all remarks in absence of my presence,
I’m well informed of what i should and shouldn’t say.
And I have trouble with my foot and what I put it in,
I am walking I am moving but I only seem to stay.

I am sure I’ll never change i’ll probably always stay the same,
There’s nothing left I haven’t lost before that I can’t lose again.
So i’ll continue on my way before I go I’d like to say,
I’m only one man. With two hands. I’m all that I can be.

CHORUS:

OUTRO:

I’m only one man with two hands I’m all that I can be.
(Two hands I am all I can be)

I’m only one man with two hands I’m all that I can be.
(Two hands I am all I can be)

I’m only one man with two hands I’m all that I can be.
(Two hands I am all I can be)

Carsten and I came up with this tune - some of u have heard a part of it before, but please please please tell us what you think.

Personally, I really like this one. Carsten was practising playing the piano and came up with those chords, and I added the melody and the words. of course, it isn't finished yet, it's just an outline.

I do hope you will share yr opinions and suggestions.

Joint production of TritonKeyboarder and me! Produced in Germany in the beautiful Harz mountains, this is a song that we quickly put together and features some of the lovliest vintage equipment: there's an actual Rhodes in there, aswell as the portable Yamaha QY-10 which I brought along, and we used an Atari ST for midi sequencing.

We hope you enjoy!

When I tried out my new triton I found the sound "StumpIt" in the memory. It has a drum loop and a electric piano for the right hand and a synthbass for the left hand on the splitted keyboard as a program.

I made this song a long time ago with my band singing with my own vocals and lyrics in english. Thats why the song is called Josy. One day I met Roman who wanted to take this music with him and so we made this thing together. The sax player was a student. I never met him again. Don't know what he's singing in Polish but I like his great voice. Music by me, lyrics and vocals by Roman Karczewski. I dedicate this issue to Roman.

Sailing fool

1st upload. hi all. I just noticed the BG vocs on this tune are missing. Oh well. This song was written for a friend who does maritime folk music and is very successful at it. He offered to consider one of my tunes for his next CD. I was Psyched about that but I'd really never written anything in that style. Writing a song about sailing and the sea is a lot harder than I thought. It's easy to do the generic Buffet drinking schtick but man, it's HARD to write something that stays in your mind. I gave it a shot anyway and sent it off to him. I heard nothing from him and forgot about it. When next we met, i got the distinct impression he hated the song but was nice enough to avoid saying it. Now, I have no emotional ties to it since I didn't write it for myself so I'm throwing over to the group to see what peer review reveals about it. I urge you to be totally frank and honest since I'm not really invested in the song emotionally (although if you just post to say you don't like it , save your breath. I don't either. Tell me why! That's the question!)
I used a total P.O.S. accoustic on the track which i got from my parents when i was 13. The " pedal steel " type lead is just my PRS with some compression and eq thrown on . the piano is an old Alesis quadrasynth and the Drum box is a DR-660. It was recorded on Protools with their crappy bundled reverb and compression - I can't afford any decent plug-ins yet!

Melancholia V2

The is the first song off the EP. It has a real opening track sound to it. We had loads of takes of the start and ones with a real even chromatic part. But in the end myself and the guy I was recording the EP with decided we likes the uneven sound of the chromatic scales, gave it character.

Of course this was originally called 'Melancholic' but it just sounded lame. So here ya go :)

this song has piano, upright bass, electric bass and vocals in it.

VERSE 1

Welcome to this melancholic town,
she said with a spaced out stare that said everything.
Without anything at all,
But the expression on her face told a tale about the place.

I couldn't run,
And all of the etchings on the walls,
Suggested there'd been no apparent leisure here at all.

CHORUS

You've got a problem,
When you've got nowhere to hide,
And the walls that surround you,
Are the ones you've been assigned.

VERSE 2

Furthermore I'd been talked of here inside,
Before I'd even known I was going to arrive,
I smelt sabotage and treason in the air,
Men in uniform told me what to think and what to wear.

I was trapped inside the body of a beast,
I screamed and gnawed the inside with the edges of my teeth.

CHORUS

You've got a problem,
When you've got nowhere to hide,
And the walls that surround you,
Are the ones you've been assigned.

Awake and Dreaming

So...Here is my acoustic injection of estrogen...I didn't mean this song to come out so girly, but it is an intimate song.:)
I hope I represent this site well, but I need a bit of advice bc I'm afraid I have no ear for mixing. I've compressed and eq'ed and I can't tell any diff.

For starters:
1 Does the main vocal keep an intimate feeling without sounding weak? Is there too much reverb?
I used a condenser mic so I could try to make the impression of having a private conversation.

2 Do the vox harmonies blend well, as if they are of 1 voice?

3. I strummed the guitar with my thumb bc I wanted that "feeling". Does the guitar sound okay? (Keep in mind, my playing ability is limited as I taught myself and have no idea what I'm doing. It boils down to me needing more practice.):)

So, this is my first recording and I appreciate any constructive criticism so that I can improve;) I am sorry for the long post but I have many questions. Thanks.

Im your man

This is one of the first songs I ever wrote. I did it when I was...oh never mind! It was forever ago. Back then it was really a rock tune with a 3 part harmony guitar solo a la Queen. I listened to it last spring for the first time in a while and YIKES!

So I thought I'd try to make it a little more palatable. I can't remember if I posted the old version and pulled it or what so I'll post this again.

I couldn't do this one in my regular studio so I had to use some lousy equipment. Anybody remember tape? 8 track analog. Nuff said.

If it's worth it, I'll re-do it on my stuff at home since I'm home for a while now. The bg vocals are way over the top but I'm searching for something to do there, so I'll leave them in for your comments. Thanks for taking the time to listen.

This song is a collaboration. I found PorcelainDoll's words up on the lyrics forum and really liked them. This was right after viewing Stuffx's very cool America Fuck Off! so I was in the mood for some political stuff and PD's lyrics seemed so right. Anyway, this is definitely NOT the way other people heard this song going so maybe I'll get skewered..... that's the lovely thing about bandamp - i can't get lynched over the web!
Your Little Room 2

Here is a clean Protools version of this song. I originally wrote it on the way to a gig last week and recorded it on Audacity in my laptop. The sound was not spectacular to say the least. i re-recorded it with the fixes suggested by spoon, battlecat and Tritonkeyboarder (but i've got no strings!). Anyway, this version is actually listenable and almost complete. It's a lullaby for a friend's baby, born last week. whaddya say TK, you wanna throw some strings on this?

Here are the words again

Your Little Room

Close your eyes and I'll hold you near
and we'll rest in your little room
as the stars and the planets rise
you are my world
and I, your moon

Go to sleep in my arms and dream
Though your dreams are a mystery
do you dream of a different world
or dream of home
or dream of me?

Close your eyes for the night is here
And in your room there is just us two
In my arms I can feel you breathe
And every breath
I breathe with you

Now I know there will come a time
When our world in this room will end
But for now as I hold your hand
I'm all you need
You're all I am
My little man
